1. Give me a brief explanation of your role and the work you do at The Dove Agency.

I am the Senior Manager of Brand Development, and my role encompasses graphic design, website development, SEO, blog and newsletter development, editorial design, and marketing strategy.

2. What drew you to The Dove Agency initially?

I loved that it was a small agency. I came from a lot of corporate companies across different fields. I found a Facebook ad that The Doves had posted that didn’t necessarily fit my role, but I applied anyway. When I heard they wanted to meet with me, I couldn’t wait to show them what I had been working on. I came in and interviewed, and I fell in love—and have been here ever since.

3. What do you enjoy most about working in the interior design field and in Brand Development?

Interior Design: Definitely the clients and the relationships. I’ve seen how other companies forge relationships, but the interior design world is different—our clients are the best, most creative, and savvy business people you’ll meet—and it’s exciting to see everyone network and lean on one another and put effort into those relationships.

Brand Development: I get to work on a lot of different things. Every single day and every single week are different. It keeps me nimble, and I try to stay up to date on everything from technology to design innovation, while bringing in our standard graphic design practices, because those never go out of style. Being able to touch a lot of different pieces keeps things interesting.

4. How has your role evolved since you started here?

When I first started, the team had never had anyone like me before. The work focused primarily on graphic design and content development—all the visuals. Now, I’m doing a lot of copywriting and bringing the two mediums together: visuals and copy. I also used to get caught in the weeds with logistical things—like where a graphic should be placed on a website, how a logo should appear, or what the brochure layout should be. Now, it's evolved into asking bigger-picture questions: What are the items we can address that our clients will really care about? What’s really going to move the needle for them? It’s become much more strategy-focused which helps guide everything that follows.

5. What is a recent project you really enjoyed working on?

I had just come back from maternity leave, and I had missed designing and working with clients on designs. I worked on a client’s builder outreach piece that involved a lot of graphic design support. It was a great project to dive into right after maternity leave.

6. What is a personal passion or hobby that brings you joy outside of work?

I love cooking, but a close second would be running. I love to eat, and I love cooking food for others, and I love finding new places to eat. A love language my husband and I share is bonding over new places to see if they’ll be our new forever place for sushi, or burgers, or whatever is on the menu for that day. I also love looking at high-end restaurant interiors, their menu designs, and the little touches that make dining out an immerseive experience.

7. What is a book, show, or movie you have recently loved and why?

I just finished The Last of Us, but I’m upset with this most recent season. If you know, you know.

8. Who has influenced you the most in your personal life?

My family, and especially my mom and dad. My dad is a force, and you can feel his positive energy when he walks into a room. He was one of six, and the first to go to college. He showed me what is possible when you put in the work and always ensured he provided for our family and that we could count on him. My mom is the sweetest most genuine person and she really focused on my brother and I in our early years of life. She eventually went back into the workforce as we got older, and was able to retire, and is now helping me care for my own babies. I admire how she has embraced every phase of her life, always going all-in. It is definitely a balancing act between work and kids, and I’m so grateful to be able to have both while working at The Dove Agency.
